Simple Tomato Sauce

The other night I posted a video of simmering garlic, and tomatoes to my Instagram (yes, I'm one of those guys), which resulted in a request for the recipe for the meal I was cooking. I must admit, this is a first, but I am always happy to oblige.

Promo Edit: Lessons Learned

Recently we were contacted to help put together a promo for the second season of CBC’s Canada’s Smartest Person series. The deadline was tight; we had only a few short days to turn everything around and as a result we needed to make sure we worked as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Naturally I turned to Final Cut Pro X to help. I had a pretty good idea of how to tackle the project, and figured that despite the original show being cut in Avid that Final Cut Pro X was up to the job.

There were a few bumps along the way, and some lessons learned that I wanted to quickly share with my fellow editors so they are prepared should they ever find themselves in the same boat.

Final Cut Pro X Features Wishlist

When Final Cut Pro X launched it lacked many features editors considered to be essential. Over time the folks at Apple have added many of these features (though some are left to the world of Third Party Plug-ins). So, in the spirit that Apple is out there listening to Final Cut Pro X users, here’s a list of features I’d love to see added one day.

Oscars 2015

So the Academy Awards have come and gone, and now everyone is going to rush out to see the big winners. I'm sure for many people the night was spent cross checking their lists of what they predicted would win and lose. For the past few years I've always kept two lists running: who will win and who should win. I must admit this year was much harder to call. Not only were there a lot of really great films, but depending on how the wind was blowing the "will win" could go to more than one option. But the results are in. The mystery is over. Here's my thoughts on this years big winners.
