TIFF 2019

The 44th annual Toronto International Film Festival was a milestone year, for it would include the Festival’s first gala fundraising event. A number of video components, including advertising spots and a final wrap-up trailer, would need to be created to help promote the event. As part of TIFF’s video team, my involvement would extend beyond these video assets into collaboration with other teams in order to create an original sound design for the Festival’s flagship identity animations.

Don't Miss Out - Festival Teaser Trailer

To celebrate the lead-up to the 2019 festival, I created a sizzle reel featuring familiar faces and cinephile fans, which would run in Cineplex theatres in the weeks prior to the festival, encouraging moviegoers to attend the upcoming event.

Festival Identity Animation

As part of the 2019 TIFF branding, our design team created a toolkit with unique animations for each of the seventeen unique programmes running throughout the festival. Those individual shapes were then re-modelled in 3D and animated into the festival identity animation. I created an original sound design for the animation, which would be completely designed and mixed in 5.1 surround sound for presentation in event venues throughout the city.

Festival Wrap-up Highlights

A primary component of every festival’s promotion – one that I’ve had the pleasure of crafting for the previous few years – is a festival wrap-up, encapsulating over 70 hours of footage captured during the course of the festival, and highlighting the most memorable moments, which premieres at the closing night Gala.
