After two years of hybrid festivals, 2022 marked the return to a full-scale, in-person edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. I created a number of video components - including advertising spots, sound design, animated creative, and a final wrap-up trailer - to help promote the event, all with a focus on the in-person experience. My work shaped the marketing of the festival, celebrated the art of film and its audiences, and honoured the filmmakers and creatives through the TIFF Tribute Awards presented by Bulgari.

To build excitement and to push audiences to start purchasing ticket packages, I built a festival hype trailer. This would be the first step in a multi-stage roll out promoting the return of the world’s largest public film festival.
As part of the staged roll-out I also created 15-second ads to run on social media, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
For our animated festival identity that played in advance of every screening at the festival, I created an original sound design for the animation. To ensure the best experience possible I then remixed it in 5.1 surround sound for presentation in event venues throughout the city.
TIFF is grateful to work on land that is home to many First Nation, Inuit, and Métis people. For our land acknowledgement that screened ahead of every film at the festival, I made use of imagery from the films of legendary Canadian filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin, paying tribute to her incredible career dedicated to telling her people’s stories.
The culmination of every festival is the closing night wrap-up trailer, which has been my main project during the festival for the last five years. Encapsulating over 70 hours of footage captured during the course of the festival, and highlighting the most memorable moments, this year’s trailer celebrated the return to a full-scale, in-person festival and the excitement and magic that comes with that.
The TIFF Tribute Awards presented by Bulgari honour the film industry’s outstanding contributors and their achievements. As part of this gala fundraiser, the Festival screens tribute reels celebrating the remarkable careers of each recipient.
This year, along with assistant editor Lee Cochran, I produced and edited seven tribute reels. This reel celebrates the incredible career of Michelle Yeoh, who was the recipient of the first ever TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker award.
