Scorsese: A Retrospective
To mark the release of the American master’s highly anticipated new film The Irishman, TIFF presents the first-ever TIFF Cinematheque retrospective of a filmmaker whose entire oeuvre constitutes “one of the source points of modern movies” (Roger Ebert).
I was tasked with creating the trailer, supporting ads for social media, and supporting content for our YouTube channel and other social platforms.
November 2019
Scorsese: A Retrospective - Theatrical Trailer
For the in-cinema trailer promoting the retrospective I dug into some of the most iconic moments and images from Scorsese’s incredible back catalogue. I also prepared a special surround sound remix of The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter”, a track that has become synonymous with Scorsese’s work.
Client: Toronto International Film Festival
Producer/Editor: Adam Schoales
Scorsese: A Retrospective - Social Ads
To promote the series online I created a series of three social ads: the first tailored to the retrospective as a whole, the other two tailored to two of Scorsese’s frequent collaborators (and Hollywood legends in their own right); Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro.
Alex Gibney on Martin Scorsese, the ultimate cinema geek
While visiting TIFF 2019 to screen his new documentary, Citizen K, I had the chance to interview Alex Gibney and discuss what makes Martin Scorsese such a brilliant filmmaker, as well as his favourite of the Scorsese films, GoodFellas.
Bong Joon-ho on RAGING BULL
Also during TIFF 2019, filmmaker Bong Joon-ho stopped by Studio 9 to discuss his new film, Parasite, and we took this opportunity to ask the master filmmaker about his favourite Scorsese films.
Paul Schrader on the origins of TAXI DRIVER
In support of our limited theatrical run of Taxi Driver, I dug into the TIFF archives and created this short piece with screenwriter Paul Schrader discussing the origins of Taxi Driver.
